“This book is absolutely perfect for Caring and Wellness and the Pastoral Care Associates. We order books for the individual associates in conjunction with training classes. I think the book is a wonderful resource for them.” |
About the Site
When those around us face tough times, we’re often at a loss for words. We may fear we’ll say the wrong thing and stay away or, we may hurt someone unintentionally by saying or doing something inappropriate. Loss is very isolating and if you stay away, you may compound the loss. Everyone needs support if they are to fully grieve and recover.
Comforting Words was developed to help you understand what to say and do when someone is dealing with difficult life experiences. You’ll find real-life examples of what others found helpful and creative ways to give support. You'll also find what not to say and do so you won't hurt someone grieving a loss.
Comforting Words grew from the research for "How to Say It When You Don't Know What to Say," currently available in volumes for Illness & Death, Suicide, and Miscarriage and e-books on Death of a Child, Death of a Stillborn or Newborn Baby, Pet Loss, Caregiver Responsibilities, and Divorce. Each volume has suggestions on oral, written, and nonverbal communications to help you help others navigate these losses.
